Thanks Shetland

Want to give a big shout out to all the people who came out to our sets in Shetland, all the bands we shared the stage with, the musicians we jammed with til daylight, our generus hosts and most of all, the committee that kept the whole thing together! Did you hear us on the boat as we departed Bressay Sound? The Wiyos love Shetland!

Oh, and, ehem, a big shout out to Baskery for giving us their cab in Aberdeen. We definitely would have missed our plane.

The Wiyos in Whole Foods

Hi folks,

Remember that album called My Changing Planet we told you about a few months ago? Well, we just heard that starting in April, the album is going to be in Whole Foods near the registers. So if you have kids, and next time you need to stock up on Tofurkey, Kale and free range Ho Ho's, check it out. We played "Gas Guzzling Blues". My Changing Planet combines takes from over 20 artists. The writers and creators of the project have produced a family album that delivers meaningful messages about conservation and environmental awareness in an engaging, funny and interactive album of original material. It's an album to inspire our next generation to be responsible stewards of the planet, and even better, 100% of the proceeds go to The Nature Conservancy. The Wiyos are really stoked to be apart of this!

The WIYOS of OZ

March 25-27 7:30pm
March 28 3:00pm
Wilner Theatre, Wichita State University
The School of Performing Arts Dance Program presents, The WIYOS of OZ.
Film, Dance and.... The Wiyos, of course (all four of us, including Joebass), together on stage in an original production and most unusual adaptation of the 1939 Wizard of Oz story. Hope to see you out there! This one is going to be really exciting!

so long Britain, hello Seattle.

Thanks to all for coming out to the UK shows. Good to see some old friends and lots of new faces. The legendary road manager, man of endless jokes, native of Paisley Scotland, and tireless cold hearted driver, Gerald Roach (aka: Wrong Turn Roach) plopped all four blurry-eyed Wiyos at Heathrow Monday morning and sped off into the London fog. Stateside now, we head for Wintergrass, WA next week!

Check out a review of the Nottingham show at The Maze here.

Also, just learned we'll be returning to Scotland in May for the Shetland Folk Festival. Twelve hour ferry? Seriously?

UK Tour Kicks off live on BBC Radio Scotland

After nearly 48 hours of battle with the airlines to get some missing instruments to Glasgow (a few harmonicas gone for good), we all managed to make it in the cabs in time for sound check for Pacific Quay on BBC last night. The show included Fraser Anderson, Maya Andrade, Natalie Merchant, KAN and The Wiyos of course. Awesome kick off to the tour. The performance was filmed for possible later airing. Keep your eyes peeled on BBC's site for announcements.

My Changing Planet

The WIYOS appear on My Changing Planet
Combining takes from over 20 artists, the writers and creators of My Changing Planet have created a family album that delivers meaningful messages about conservation and environmental awareness in an engaging, funny and interactive album of original material. It's an album to inspire our next generation to be responsible stewards of the planet, and even better, 100% of the proceeds go to The Nature Conservancy! Guess who was invited to be involved for one of the funny songs? We're really excited to be apart of this release and hope it's one of many ways we can do our part. All of the artists volunteered they're time, including us, and we're happy to do it (well... alright, they brought us some pizza and gave us some subway money, which was pretty awesome... a good slice, and a little slog on the C train, not bad for a NY gig. Check out the album here.
